Telephone & Internet
Even if you would like to get away from home during your holiday, it may be useful or desirable to have contact by telephone or Internet. You can also be easily reached on Tobago if you wish.
The providers TSTT Cellnet/Bmobile and Digicel offer GSM/GPRS network, so that visitors to Tobago with three-band mobile phones can use this service. Before your departure, check whether your telephone supports the 1800 MHz frequency and activate your contract for overseas telephony if necessary. Also make sure that you know the cost of incoming and outgoing calls – these are usually extremely high.
You can also purchase prepaid local cards that work with any three-band mobile phone. The SIM cards from Digicel are available in the Lowlands Mall, for example. Bmobile cards can be purchased directly in the TSTT shop in Scarborough – but be prepared for a very long wait.
In some accommodations simple mobile phones with SIM cards can be rented for a good price – ask your host.
