Alibaba’s Sea Breeze in Castara
Long before our first Tobago holiday we researched which accommodation in the north-west could suit us and found Alibaba’s Sea Breeze. Luxury and all-round service were not the focus – it had to be clean, close to the beach and functionally equipped.
With Brian (Alibaba) and Stephanie Taylor we found all this and much more. Thanks to Stephanie’s German roots, booking via the Internet has become reliable and easy for us, and pick-up from the airport has also been agreed directly.
The holiday starts right at the airport. On the one hour drive you will get to know a little bit of this picturesque island. Along beautiful beaches, steep coastlines and small villages in the hilly countryside, we head towards our actual destination: Castara, a small fishing village on the Caribbean coast of Tobago.
The situation can be described in one word: dreamlike! Directly at the beach the terraces of the apartments rise over the beach and offer a fantastic view over the bay of Castara.
Castara has two beaches, a reef that invites you to snorkel from the beach and fishermen that you can watch doing your daily work. There are several very good restaurants and bars, some shops where you can buy the basic food and daily fresh fish directly at the “Fishermens-Co-Op”. The village centre can be reached on foot in approx. 10 minutes via a rather steep road.
Alibaba’s Sea Breeze is located directly on the beach of the small Castara Bay (also called “Heavenly Bay”). Each of the four apartments has its own balcony with an indescribable view over the Caribbean Sea, the coral reef and both beaches.
The Caribbean style apartments have very well equipped kitchens (stove with oven, spacious fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, etc.) with ceiling fan, a bathroom with shower (hot and cold) and mosquito nets on the beds.
All four accommodations have “king-size” (approx. 2 m wide) double beds with bedside tables and reading lamps and a further ceiling fan in the sleeping area.
High value on cleanliness, the functional equipment as well as a kitchen equipment, which makes also a self-sufficiency problem-free possible, convinced us. If required, a local mobile phone can be rented for a deposit. Stephanie and Brian are also on hand to provide advice and assistance – especially with the planning and implementation of excursions. If you attach importance to a safe and reliable execution, e.g. a great island tour, rainforest tour or boat trip, you are in good hands here.
